Hommel Elementary School

Dear Hommel Families,

It is a joy to begin my 15th year in Everman ISD serving the students, families, and staff as Principal of Hommel Elementary.  I began working in Everman in 2011 as a music teacher at Souder Elementary. After 7 years there, I moved to be assistant principal at E. Ray Elementary and in 2021, I came to Hommel to serve as assistant principal.  Now, these many years later, I get to see those young students begin to graduate and even come back to work for Everman.  

As you know, teaching our students is a daily partnership between the school and families.  This year, we will be communicating with families through Class Dojo and hosting several events, beginning with Meet the Teacher on August 6th.  Please consider signing up to be a volunteer and if you are interested in joining PTO, reach out to the front office.  Our amazing staff is eager to start the year and serve our students.  One request I am making of all our families this year is to spend at least 15 minutes, 3 times a week, reading with your child.  From first grade to, yes, even fifth grade, you’ll be amazed at how much your child loves this activity.  This will also help our students’ fluency and comprehension skills quickly increase.  If you are looking for resources to do this with your child, please reach out to your teacher or the front office and we will be happy to help.

Married in 2010, my wife, Spring, and I enjoy concerts, cooking, traveling, and camping.  She is the love of my life and my biggest supporter.  On weekends you will find me decked out in my Oklahoma Sooners gear to cheer on my home team, Boomer!
